Valdeorras, Spain
Adega O Cabalin
The project started in 2015, when the first vineyard was bought, in Viladequinta and Carballeda de Valdeorras. Most purchased vineyards had been abandoned for many years. Today the vineyard counts 3Ha, combining 44 plots planted between 1918 - 1929. Vineyards are farmed following organic practices.
Most plots are fields blends composed of local varieties: mencía, merenzao, garnacha tintorera, godello.
The vineyards are situated on the north and south of a valley separated by the river Casoio which is a tributary of the river Sil. Altitude varies between 560m to a 800m .
The philosophy of the estate is to treat the land(terroir) and its products with respect and to produce wine with as little human intervention as possible in order to reflect the area from which it originated.
