Garnatxa EG Priorat

Cesca Vicent · Priorat, Spain

Garnacha thrives on the free draining, nutrient-poor soils of Priorat. This wine is intensely Mediterranean, with aromatic herbs and a black stone minerality characteristic of the region. The wine shows concentrated aromas of wild strawberries and redcurrants, savory notes, ripe tannins and a spicy touch.

Vinification
Grapes are hand harvested, brought to the winery and refrigerated. Grapes are then destemmed. Temperature controlled vats enable cold maceration with the skins to maximize extraction of color and flavor as well as control fermentation temperatures and length. During the maceration with the skins (10 to 15 days) the must goes through a couple of daily pumps over and punch down. The must is pressed and will remain in the stainless-steel vat until malolactic fermentation is done. The wine is then moved into barrels by gravity where it will age for a year. A slight filtration is done before bottling.
